The cop whipped out his police special and fired two shots, hitting the stranger square in the middle of his head. The stranger immediately came down from the tree and arranged himself neatly in a lifeless pile on the ground. The policeman pulled a second pistol from his pocket and planted it in the strangers hand. "nobody flips me the bird..." thought the cop to himself.

Muffy looked on in shock and amazement (her eyes leaking even more), as the cop pulled a taser from his pocket and pointed it at her. As she lay writhing in pain on the ground, the cop pulled a set of handcuffs from his pocket, and secured Muffy's wrists. The cop beat her with his truncheon a few times, saying, in a mocking voice "still interested in the meaning of life?"

A while later, he lost interest in the beatings so he placed a call on a radio, and in a short while two vehicles arrived. The first was a black station wagon with "county coroner" on the side, into which the stranger was loaded (Muffy overheard the coroner say to the cop "pretty obviously a case of self-defense" ).

Next the policeman talked to some men from the other vehicle. Muffy couldn't hear all of what they were saying but odly enough they seemed to be exhanging recipies or talking about their plans for Christas holidays - Muffy clearly heard the word "fruitcake" used on several occasions.

After talking to the police for a while, the men approached her and gignerly loaded her into the back of the second vechicle. The vehicle had a sign on the side which read "New Bedlam Hospital". As the vehicle sped off, Muffy peeked out the bars on the back door, thinking to herself "Why is it that every time I meet a nice guy, something like this happens ... life is nasty, brutish and short, and probalby doesn't have any meaning at all". And with that, the leakage rate from her eyes increased to a gusher...
