cnyndwllr. Good post, very thoughtful.

You said...." Hans Blix has stated that at the time of the inspections HE believed that Iraq had some stores of wmds. He has stated that his basis for that opinion was that there had been no sound documentation of the destruction of chemical and biological stores and also that he was getting strong affirmation from the U.S. and Great Britain "....

I guess we can agree then that we all THOUGHT there were WMD in Iraq. And that is the point I was trying to make. Whether Bush should have gone to war at the time he did is a different topic/problem. I believe that the Bush team believing that sadam had WMD....as we all did.... and after seeing what the islam terrorists would do ...Sept.11..and wondering how far they would go given the chance came to the conclusion that if there was the slightest chance that islam terrorists could get hold of WMD then they must be stopped no matter what the cost in popularity. I believe the bush team decided they would take the heat and protect America. And that is what a USA president should do....place America and it's citizens first. Right or wrong what was done was not IMO based on lies. The price in American lives and innocent Iraqi's is a very high price to pay.

You said...." Whatever underlying purpose those that secured the support of Bush for the war had, it was important enough that they were willing to risk losing the White House in 2004 in order to invade and let the chips fall where they might afterwards.'...

Very true. And I guess time will tell the real reason.

You said....." We need to get some better brainpower and better understanding of these issues in place. It may not be Kerry, but it definitely isn't Cheney/Bush. It's time to kiss another frog and see if we get a prince. The last frog is giving us all warts.".....

Agreed it is not kerry. Perhaps Liberman would have been a better choice or even Edwards. But IMO kerry would not be better than Bush when it comes to confronting islam terrorism.
