Trends in Biotech: Biotech stocks in general closed up over the two week ending 4/2/04. The AMEX Biotechnology Index (BTK) increased 4.18% while the BioBizNet Select Index (BBNSI) soared 5.46%. Several biotechnology stocks gained over 10%. These were led by Tularik Inc. (TLRK) which gained 45.32%. Amgen Inc. (AMGN) had agreed to acquire the remaining shares of Tularik Inc. it doesn't already own for $1.3 billion in stock. Other big gainers were VIFL and JMAR (see biobiznet.com).
