Contra Costa County may have a Dem state senator BUT Danville elects a GOP state rep. In other words, that area you are citing so proudly is GOP country. The rest of that county, which includes Richmond, Pittsburgh, Hercules, and Crockett, drive it left.

Contra Costa CO. is notorious for supporting the GOP, but they do vote for the Democrat at times so there are some swing voters living there.
There are some swing voters everywhere.

Tauscher is the Dem. Federal Representative from a section of the Co. but I am not sure if Danville is in her area.
Yeah.

BUT WHEN YOU GET DOWN TO THE SMALLEST POLITICAL ENTITY THAT INCLUDES DANVILLE- -THE STATE ASSEMBLY DISTRICT- -IT IS GOP!

By the logic you wish to use, there are no Republicans in CA because we have 2 Dem US Senators! So what am I doing here? How did a GOP gubernatorial candidate unseat a sitting Dem guv?

Longandshort was making a statement as if all people from Ca are super liberal which is false.
Yes. As Ahnie illustrates, a Republican can win even statewide in this state. The biggest problem is that the CA GOP has a death wish. Ahniw did not have to go through the normal GOP vetting process which eliminates moderates and leaves only Christian Right anti-abortion candidates who can win GOP primaries but then get their heads handed to them in the general.

There are many areas that are quite conservative and much of our state gov't has been represented by the GOP.
The Central Valley is notoriously conservative. And parts of SoCal. And they elect those troglodytes in the primaries.

This state is highly diversified and probably has many independent voters..
Oh, if George plays his cards righ, he could take the state.

Don't bet on it, though.

As far as stupidity is concerned, I wonder ig longhshort knows where Silicon Valley is or what comes out of it.
