Violence begets violence. That's exactly why Iraq might spin out of control soon. If the U.S. and coalition forces killed 1,000s of Iraqis in one day, that might set off a firestorm of protest and retaliation in Iraq. The U.S. does not want to escalate the situation over there. Once it boils over into street fighting, who knows where it will lead? Civil war? 1,000s of American causalties. I don't think that's what the U.S. wants. Certainly President Bush doesn't want the 1,000th American soldier headline to cross American newspapers and TVs just befor ethe election. We could reach the 1,000 dead number before november. A few more days like today and we'll be there before the summer is out. It might be a long hot summer in Iraq this year.
