Sadly you see that 'logic' a lot nowadays... anything which is scientifically unproven = false. It's practically a cultural mantra despite it being 180degrees against science itself.

The best any good scientist can say about the above situation is simply 'I don't know'. AND he can't say: "you don't know either", although he probably believes such... because that that statement might actually be untrue. :)
