You must not have been doing it right. What is a PIA about dragging files from one folder to another? That is what you do to move files from one machine to another if you have a network. If you prefer using the Laplink application, you can still use it - as you mentioned - using your network - no need to use the serial cable. File synchronization is built-in to Windows XP. The concept is a bit backwards to what you might think, though. You can designate that a folder on a different machine is to be cached on the local machine. There are various options for how it syncs (one-way or two-way? Continuously or at log-in and/or log-out?) Really handy for notebooks.
