The WSJ article on SUNW is excellent. It harps on the bedrock themes in the industry, which themes are constantly argued on this thread between SUNW and MSFT/INTC supporters. " . . . rather than becoming roadkill of tis powerful 'Wintel' combination, Sun is alive and prospering, to a degree that astonishes many skeptics. The company has had a string of strong quarters, a stock price that is near an all-time high and new respect from the corporate customers who buy most of the world's computers." The article highlighted a recent sales win for SUNW with Hershey Corp.; interestingly, Hershey's technical consultant for the purchase was the consulting arm of IBM. SUNW's acquisitions are also noted, including the Encore Computer Corp. storage products purchase, and the purchase of high-end SGI technology. Additionally, a positive spin is placed on SUNW's customer service. A large adviser, Meta Group, replaced DEC with SUNW for customer recommendations.
