They didn't make econ. sense to the growing middle class at that time. The rich could afford them but they were a small market niche. That is true, it is also true of many newly developed items. Also note that it was Ford (and to a lesser extent other companies) that changed this not the government. I see.........you would prefer that the corporate world decides what's best for us and not the consumer. No, I would prefer that the consumer (defined as anyone who consumes and has demand for goods and services so this would also include the corporate world) decides and not the government. Tim
