I'm glad to hear that bi-racial adoptions are common in your neighborhood, and surprised to hear that adoptions of disabled kids are common. I hope I didn't imply that such adoptions never occur, but I do believe I have the stats right. I assume the disabled kids you see being adopted are a select group; retardation and severe disabilities are forbidding prospects for prospective parents. Indeed, they can be prohibitively expensive and time-consuming. Some children must have expert care 24/7. School tuition for an autistic child is $35,000 if you can get a special school. And so on. But that doesn't change the fact that some good-hearted people take on kids with at least minor disabilities. I'm very happy to hear it. Still, I commend Poet's post to you.
