WWI was successful at meeting its objectives. The treaty that was signed at its end contributed to the next war, and it certainly can't be said that WWI caused Europe to be a stable place but the specific objectives of the war were achieved.

True, but it has been an econ. burden for us. So in this sense its not been successful.

It was for a time but we have also benefited from South Korea. South Korean soldiers fought with us outside of Korea, and they are an important trading partner. Europe and Japan after WWII were also an economic burden on us, probably a much greater burden then Korea was. Your argument would seem to indicate that you should think WWII was unsuccessful.
