Russ what do you make of this?

I have two contradictory ideas.

1) All this talk about FNM suggests that nothing really bad will happen. Too much attention is focused on it just like SARS, bird flu, and the double dip recession idea 2 years ago (an idea that might be time now, because NO ONE sees a recession here), etc etc.

2) The biggest headfake of all time would occur if a blowup happened while people were watching. The stock market has shown enormous complacency in view of the fundamental problem. FNM targeting people with a bunch of high-priced TV ads warning consumers prices will rise if they are reigned in is a huge warning sign. Their unwillingness to disclose their complete hedgebook is another huge problem.
