I read on another thread that Bush's poll ratings are now at 43% approval, according to PEW research. That is an ominous sign with an election just 6 months away. I also read on swingstateproject.com that Kerry leads Bush in a recent Minnesota poll 50% to 38% with 2% for Nader. That is certainly an ominous sign if it is confirmed by later polling. Some Republicans have been predicting that Minn. might be there's this election cycle as they claim it is growing more conservative. A strong showing by Kerry in Minn. would indicate that he is running strong in the upper Mid-West, a crucial region for his election effort.

It also appears that Ralph Nader is having trouble getting on to the ballot in Oregon. He couldn't get 1,000 supporters to a rally recently to get his name on the ballot. Now he has to try to collect 15,000 signatures in 3 months to qualify for the Oregon ballot. I think Nader won't be much of a factor this fall. He'll be lucky if he gets on a dozen state ballots. He doesn't have the organization or time to make much of a showing this fall. The election is only 6 months away now. A lot of those Nader supporters are going to vote for Kerry this fall, which will give him a much needed shot in the arm.
