The official said he found the lack of bin Laden and al Qaeda references in the final Clinton terror assessment interesting, but downplayed such "word-counting games."

"We don't measure progress or response [to terrorism] by how many speeches, words, utterances or meetings were held on a particular issue, but by action taken," he said.

The official found Clinton's terror assessment "interesting"?????

Me too!

Bin laden should have been taken out or captured when Clinton had the chance. Evidentially his administration didn't take the threat that bin laden....and al queda.......posed seriously enough or they would have done just that. Just as they would have furiously stressed the importance of searching for and eliminating the threat from al queda in that final report to congress AND to the new administration when it took office in Jan 01.

There is an obvious discrepancy here. I hope Senator Gorton picks up on it during Ms Rice's testimony on Thursday.
