Dear Mr. Cohen,

thank you for your interest in FSI International, Inc.

We stated in our third quarter earnings release that we expect to "see
improved sales in the fourth quarter of fiscal 1997" and that "interest
in orders during the third quarter has been encouraging and our backlog
has been increasing in the last three quarters". You are correct in that
we have not made many order announcements during the last weeks.
However, I can assure you that we certainly are receiving orders.

We are not announcing every order we receive. Sometimes, the customer
does not want to be named, other times the order size is not significant
enough to warrant on order announcement, or for strategic reasons we
decided not to issue a press release. We are, however, certainly aware
of the need of the investment community to receive updates on FSI
business activity.

Please feel free to call me (612-361-7648) if you like to discuss this
or other issues in more detail.

Sincerely,
Heide Erickson
Manager, Investor Relations

comments: IT IS VERY DISTURBING NOT TO SEE ANY UPDATES OF BOOKINGS SINCE
6/27/97. HOPEFULLY THIS IS AN OVERSIGHT OF MANAGEMENT NOT BRINGING
INVESTORS UP TO DATE ON BUSINESS COMING IN UNLESS THERE IS NONE. THAT
WOULD BE TOTAL DISASTER. PLEASE PASS THIS NOTE TO THE CEO/PRESIDENT AND
WOULD APPRECIATE AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE FROM EITHER AS TO WHAT IS
HAPPENING.
