I didn't mean to imply that my idea of an upgrade was adding more memory or a new hard drive either. I've upgraded my CPU from a 100MHz 601 to a 185MHz 604e. There's a small cottage industry dedicated to helping Mac users upgrade their hardware. One good outfit is Mac CPU, maccpu.com. Anyway, I'm willing to make a gentleman's virtual bet that the useful life of a Mac, any Mac, is longer than its PC counterparts.

Interesting comment about Intel. Saw a news clip today claiming IBM was going to buy from AMD now. Didn't read it carefully but, apparently, you're not the only one who feels Intel needs to be taken down a peg or two.

BTW, see macosrumors.com. Apple to buy Power Computing? If you read the whole article plus the accompanying piece, you'll see some interesting speculation about Steve Jobs' interest in the WINTEL mkt. "Who'd a thunk it?"
