Today on Canada's Business Report... Biomira Calls Recent Cancer Vaccine Study A Good News Story

TORONTO, April 7 /CNW/ - On today's edition of Canada's Business Report,
host Robert Graham speaks with Alex McPherson, President and CEO of Biomira
Incorporated. They focus on the results of the latest study involving the
BLP25 liposomal vaccine for people with non-small cell lung cancer.

McPherson says, "This particular trial had only 171 patients and the
point of the exercise was to determine whether or not there was an indication
that we should go further in clinical development. Given the small size of the
trial, the results are really quite staggering."

McPherson says Biomira and its German partner in the project, Merck KgaA,
are enthusiastic about the drugs' potential. He says, "We are going to look at
the possibility of talking to regulatory authorities with respect to this
trial, and there is a great likelihood that the regulatory authorities in
Canada and the United States, and possibly in Europe, are going to ask us to
do a further phase III trial, which will take us several years."
