One day I was hunting with a guy who flushed a covey of quail, 3 shots with his 16 ga. shotgun never touched a feather. He reloaded, took a step and more quail got up. Now this time I noticed one looked like it was hit and landed in a small multiflora rose in a pasture. We started walking through the pasture and I peeked into the bush and there laid the dead quail. Instead of yelling "here's a quail you hit" I kept walking about 40 yards, then I yelled "quail behind you". He whirled around, saw nothing, looked at me, I did a quick draw and fired a shot from the hip. He's going what the .... and I walked back and picked up the quail. Told him I didn't need a shotgun for quail.
