I keep thinking can Iraq get any worse? And if so, what will "worse" look like? John, civil war. Right now, the various groups have the US to hit over the head. If we leave, which Bush wants to do in the worst way.....he wants to wash his hands of the whole mess........then the country will fall into chaos. What many Americans don't realize is that the current boundaries of Iraq are artificial. They are boundaries forced on the Iraqis by the Brits in 1920. Consequently, many Iraqis don't have any loyalty to the 'Republic' of Iraq, and of course, the three main ethnic groups can't stand each other. So to answer your question......it could get much worse. Re. the US, we are damned if we leave and damned if we don't leave. Like I said to you in another post, I want the people in the Bush administration punished for their actions. A GOP Congress won't impeach Bush but something should be done. Just losing the presidency is not enough IMO. ted
