I don't know if "Almost every single person in Iran has a relative or close friend who was killed or tortured by SAVAK, the Shahs secret police". I know a lot of Iranians, and while none say what a "great guy" the Shah was, almost all of them came to this country to escape the repression following the Iranian Revolution, and not to before.

You should know, within months of the fall of the Spanish Republic, Stalin had already signed a treaty with Hitler. Further, Communists in the United States were very much against FDR's support of Britain before June 1941 - and since it is well established that in the 40's the U.S. Communist Party was getting instructions from Moscow, it means that Moscow was favoring Hitler over Britain...untill they were attacked by Hitler.
