Now mind you, IMO, this is a proposal based upon expediency and creating an well of positive feelings amongst the "arab street", not something based upon some principle that the Palestinians deserve some kind of nation based upon their uniqueness in language, religion, or culture.

IMHO the only way to make the "arab street" happy would be to deport all of the Jews from Israel. Anything short of that isn't going to make them happy. Since I support the right for Israel to continue to exist. I think that the only solution is for Israel to wall up and let reality set in for the "arab street". It will probably take another 25 years, or so for this to happen.

I wouldn't want to send in any US troops or even NATO troops into the region. Peacekeeping mission are a generally a failed idea, unless 99% of the populace supports the peace settlement. Since you will never have a peace deal that 99% of Israelis and Palestinians could support, sending peace keeping troops over there won't work.

I don't think that you can expect peacekeeping troops to fire their weapons.
