IMHO the only way to make the "arab street" happy would be to deport all of the Jews from Israel.

No.. that would make them estatic... ;0)

But suffice it to say, the "arab street" responds to the news coverage they see when Israelis are retaliating against Palestinians. They see the footage of that, but seldom the footage of the Israelis victims of suicide attacks, or intolerant rantings calling for Israel's destruction..

So a NATO force, operating under UN authority engaged in NATION BUILDING, not merely peace-keeping, similar to what we're trying to achieve in Iraq. It would, at worst, deflect Arab opinion away from these images of Israelis killing Palestinians and, at best, show images of the UN trying to create a viable economic and social state within the Palestinian territories.

Because to take on the UN and the international community, all bent upon trying to create a new Arab state, would be rather harder to oppose than claiming that the US is trying to colonize a country with the second largest reserves of oil on the planet.

Palestine has none of these resources.

But the real reality that Israelis need to set in for is the potential for a WMD related suicide strike.

And that could happen within days, or years... One will never really be able to know when, or if, such an attack will be carried out.
