Okafor applied to and was accepted (met academic requirements) at Stanford. Unfortunately for Stanford, Montgomery didn't have a scholarship available for him. He'd already signed Childress, Hernandez & Little. At the time, Montgomery still had Jason Collins & Curtis Borchardt. He knew Collins would leave early but he didn't expect Borchardt to.
