I found that it's almost an automatic process. My boss used to turn me loose with some wacky idea in a meeting and if it/I wasn't shot down, he'd do the presentations from then on, having reeled me in and put me back in the cupboard.
Not invented here syndrome is very powerful. Most people automatically reject new ideas out of hand. But once it's their's, it's gung ho.

Hey, here's an idea, how about a New United Nations, [NUN] complete with a sensible constitution, democratic processes and rule of law? I've heard the USA likes democracy and rule of law...heck, they invented the UN, so they are the ones who should renovate it.
There are some unoccupied palaces in Iraq which would be handy for conventions, regional headquarters and secure bases.
