I created a product which was franchised internationally. It's very famous. A major corporation changed a few details, the name of it and ripped it off. I had to sue them, was almost broke and eventually got a good litigator to go after them. Little by little I got justice, but only ten cents on the dollar. Still it was a lot of money.

That's the way the justice system is in this country, rigged for the deep pockets corporations against the individual. You're lucky if you can settle for what they're insured against. Otherwise they threaten to keep you in court for years and bankrupt you. Thank God in the end the truth won out, but only partially. Now when I hear the rightwing attack "trial lawyers" it makes me cringe. That guy saved my life, for only modest money upfront.

That said, I am 100% against frivlous lawsuits. One woman I know got sued by her abusive ex-husband 45 times just for the hell of it. That ought to be illegal.
