The reasons you gave are the reasons Clinton could have used to avenge the USS Cole, bombed 12 Oct 2000 BUT they didn't, because they said "they didn't have absolute proof that OBL did it......."

If you read my post you will note I only addressed defensive measures that could have been taken. The defensive measures should have been taken under the Clinton administration or before. Hopefully we are not using the Clinton administration as the benchmark for the Bush administration. If defensive measures are in order they should be taken regardless of a previous administration's actions or non actions.

Offensive actions are an issue I did not address in the post you are responding too. However offensive measures were also in order. Defensive measures seam to be a clear failure with the existing administration as well as the previous administration.

In fact as noted in previous posts...defensive measures with respect to reducing our dependence on foreign oil fall on many previous administrations as well as the existing one. We need to do some creative thinking if we want to get out of this mess...blaming it on previous administrations does not solve the problem.
