After today, I have little or no respect left for people in the media like Howard Fineman....and we'll see how many others do "tricks" with what was actually said.

I don't know KLP. I just don't know.

Fortunately I am neither a judge, jury, President, nor a member of the military. At times like these, all I feel like doing is killing people and crying. Cry and kill people.

I have never been in the military, but I imagine I wouldn't have lasted long once the shooting started. If by some quirk of fate I survived, there is no doubt I'd have to be put away with the criminally insane.

For me, concepts like "respect" pretty much go out the window with the events of the past week. The Media is worthy of scant respect in peace time. Its of no use whatsoever in warfare. If its not propaganda its next to useless and most often harmful. In my mind, warfare is not polite, politic or even rational. Its all about winning and losing, period.

Bush needs to find a pretty face who can make a good speech and set them about preaching the reason and purpose of this war. ...Maybe several pretty faces.

People who can explain why it's necessary to kill a great many Islamists now, so that we don't have to keep doing this every 10 or 20 years. Explain the history of this radical disease and why it can't be allowed to succeed. Why preemption is required. What the alternative course might lead to. And why that result cannot be risked.

Rice's testimony and the Kerrey WSJ article LB posted are the best arguments I've seen to date, but it just scratches the surface. Bush needs to buy some serious prime-time TV to do it. He should be issuing radio messages on the war alone, at least every other day.

This simply can't be done by Krystal or anyone else in the media. It has to come from the administration and Bush himself. The whole basis for this war has been hyjacked. First by the stupid WMD debate. Now it's this insane search for "the truth" behind the WTC massacre. WMD's don't mean jack. And only the serious incompetent could possibly imagine that a Republican anything would negligently suffer the destruction of the financial core of our greatest city if it could have possibly been helped.

If any politicians had the gall to insist that we should give "peace" another chance I would publicly announce that Air Force One is on standby ready and willing to deliver them to Baghdad or any place of their choosing where they will be free to negotiate a treaty with Sadr or anybody else they want. The only conditions I would specify are that there would be no rescue missions, no cease fire while they're "negotiating," and no help from me. <Hoo><Haa>
