Re: The world is a very sinister place.

Ah! But thanks to you it can be funny at times.... Here's a scrap from the link you referred to:

During the investigation of the 1998 embassy bombings, FBI counter-terrorism expert John O'Neill finds a memo by al-Qaeda leader Mohammed Atef on a computer. The memo shows that bin Laden's group has a keen interest in and detailed knowledge of negotiations between the Taliban and the US over an oil and gas pipeline through Afghanistan.

Unocal and the oil pipeline hoax!! LOL.... As I said, US elites always resort to the same old trick: pincer propaganda. They used it to sell the Iraq war just as they used it before to conceal the real objectives of the Afghan war. So, the (far-)right-wing rednecks were fast-talked into the hunt for bogey Bin-Laden and the ugly Taliban whereas leftist peaceniks were fed the usual "hedge propaganda" about an oil pipeline... AND ALL THE WHILE nobody noticed the Russian elephant wriggling about in the middle of the war room.
