Isn't it the chimps that have troublesome alpha males... I always thought bonobos were more into make love not war... a distinction from the chimps...

It so happens that pacifism is the principal attribute of bonobos, a close cousin of the chimpanzee that is so secretive in the wild that it came to the attention of science only about 70 years ago.
Unlike more aggressive chimps, bonobos are relaxed, friendly, female-dominated and far more interested in sex than in fighting or brute competition.
