OT - Not so sure about what you write, the issue is much more complex then just placing the blame on one group of people.

IMHO the major mistake the US made in Iraq was that it let into Iraq all kind of religious fanatics and extremist (all in the name of democracy) and failed to interfere in the various rivalries.

IMHO the US was unprepared for such a quick victory and the various issues arising after that, let alone failure to understand the sectarian politics and Iran interference. Fact is those religious fanatics and extremist exploited the freedom and the democratic effort for their own gain only to hit hard at those that enabled them to return to Iraq.

About a year ago a notorious religious leader returned to Iraq from the UK and preached moderation and to embrace the liberators only to be literally hacked to death by Moktada al-Sadr mob - the US should have acted forcefully then and not wait 12 months. If Moktada al-Sadr would have been tried and preferable executed for murder, then lots of lives and trouble would be saved

....and there are many more mistakes due to the lack of understanding of arab mentality and more so that of the religious radicals. It is about time for the US to realize that there is no separation of power between religion and state in arabs minds nor is it a sin to murder some one in cold blood if some religious figure said so that it is in the name of Good and policy should be treated accordingly. After all Berlusconi was right in his opinion about the ME religion

What is going on in Iraq now is nothing more than a grab for power of religious fanatics financed by Iran and in the process blaming the US and other international forces who liberated the people from Saddam and the Baath party grip - but that is quickly forgotten and it is interpreted by many that actual "Allah" sent in the American and they died and scarified their life for the Iraqis at the whish of "Allah" and not any other reason.

I find it curios that none of the Arab governments are screaming murder about what is going on in Iraq now? May be they know better …. e.g. that the US army is doing the dirty job for them and that is the sad part.
