I think it did start with Clinton, it being all the investigating into the prez' private life. Billy/Donald were bros,and not even their private lives were invaded in such a manner. However, if I remember Billy Beer, he put his own life out there in a pile of empties. Investigative journalism didn't pick on him as much as he picked on himself. I think Donald Nixon was hooked up with Hughes Tool and Die, in some loan thing, but nobody ever did much about that. I suppose you could make some sort of a case, re the Johnson girls,since they were getting some negative press time. Come to think of it, maybe LBJ really started it when he showed off his gall bladder scar, proving once again that Texicans are just Alabamanese who have indoor plumbing. Anyway, thru JFK, the press let the prez do what he wanted behind closed doors, and prior to taking office. By Clinton's era, neither was true.
