Harvey, Aerial just announced an agreement to join with Rural
Cellular to provide service to Sioux City and other parts of
South Dakota. Aerial owns most of Rural Cellular. They will start
selling dual-mode phones there. These work on both the GSM (PCS)
digital standard and on the AMPS (analog i.e. traditional cellular)
standard. Most of the existing customers of Rural Cellular are
on the analog standard and they will be able to use extended coverage
plus when in the reach of digital towers, can switch over to
the digital mode, with much better sound quality, freedom from
eaves dropping, and security.
