The Camphone Revolution

And folks wondered why I liked Agilent... -g-

"Manufacturers such as Hewlett-Packard (HPQ ), Seiko Epson, and Canon (CAJ ) are rolling out inexpensive color photo printers that connect wirelessly to handsets -- with no need to store pictures first on a PC. Just snap a photo, zap it to the printer via Bluetooth short-range radio, and 15 seconds later you have a copy to send to Grandma."

It will be interesting to see if they will pay for Bluetooth or opt for the cheaper IR. If they have bluetooth already for wireless headsets, then that is nearly a free option! Some phones already have IR for programming the phone. One idea was to use the phone as a satellite receiver for your auto by having the phone sit in a cradle and download info via IR from the phone to the Auto. It would be pretty easy to mold a cradle into printers and put the cheap IR transciever in the printer to download the cell phone pictures. A $100 printer... hard to put the high cost of Bluetooth when you can probably get IR for a fraction.
