In connection with WWII, there was an agreement to
defer an investigation as to whether FDR had
forewarning of Pearl Harbor until AFTER the war
ended so that it would not be politicized.

The same reasoning should obtain here.
But politics got in the way.
And the avowed PURPOSE of the 9/11
commission was not supposed to be politics.
