"Where do you see the self interest on the PfP thread?"

To be clear, in that post, my point was actually about "self interest" as synonym for "point of view". It was intended as one in a vague series, including an earlier discussion with someone called wstera_02 to whom POV is best defined as "opinion", whereas I appreciate it more as "minor epiphany".

However, I agree that "self-interest" IS the theme of the PFP thread. The founder is an unabashed disciple of the prophet Ayn Rand. For example: see #reply-19922289 where he states "I operate from the position that all actions are selfish ones. " (Of course, there is NO altruism, saith Ayn.) On LindyBill’s thread, they often confuse self-interest with happiness. For example, according to the gospel of PFP, the marine that throws himself on a grenade and saves comrades is just trying to "be happy". And every Bushnut watching FOX that belches "NUKE THEM ALL" is just reaching for inner peace. The PFP groupies are a curious cult (1), they believe in a sort of “La-Z-boy® laissez-faire" style of jihad. According to their dogma, you should smite the enemy and convert his survivors (if any) to capitalism, all from the comfort of your own personal throne, castle or SUV. It works this way: the poor are asked to sacrifice...whoops...sorry "sacrifice" doesn't exist…The poor join the military as happy surrogates for the suits and bankers who represent the pinnacle achievement of all mankind. In celebration of the lives of our soldiers who sometimes meet a horrid, if always happy death, the PFP’ers light a candle…not in the tabernacle of "YAHWEH"…not in the cathedral of the long-suffering "I AM", but in the temple dedicated to the holy trinity of "I, ME and MINE". In other words, they go shopping. (2)

Nuff Said? I hope that your request was not some type of audition. At the present time, I can't afford a straight man in the act. Best Regards.

(1)Even more curious is that PFP'ers often pay homage to Libertarian and Conservative deities in violation of the prophet's warning "Above all, do not join the wrong ideological groups or movements, in order to 'do something.' By 'ideological' (in this context), I mean groups or movements proclaiming some vaguely generalized, undefined (and, usually, contradictory) political goals. (E.g., the Conservative Party, which subordinates reason to faith, and substitutes theocracy for capitalism; or the 'libertarian' hippies, who subordinate reason to whims, and substitute anarchism for capitalism. [Ayn Rand, "What Can One Do?" Philosophy: Who Needs It]" See "Does Objectivism support Libertarianism?" at aynrand.org where they also suggest you read "Libertarianism: The Perversion of Liberty," by Peter Schwartz in the Ayn Rand collection The Voice of Reason. "

(2) Or in the case of GWB, going fishing is the preferred act of homage to the dead.
