It was a gubernatorial election.

I doubt Carl thought he would win. I suspect he just thought it would be fun to be part of the wierdest gubernatorial election in U.S. history.

P.S. must be nice to be able to not insure property, just because you "don't particularly like the house". It's nice to have a gullible investor base that will cover for your mistakes.

P.P.S. I do think that Woody has finally hit on something useful, if not, so far, extremally profitable. I think the most promising technology that he has championed is the work he has done with directed intersecting sound waves. Make no mistake - Woody didn't invent this. Actually, it's one of those oddities of science that I have been fascinated about since I was a kid. I think I first read about this in Popular Science. I imagine Woody did too.

(The same basic principle is being done with, I believe, microwaves, to do some kinds of cancer surgery.)

It's one of those odd facts of physics that is so obvious in theory and so very difficult in practice. Woody does have a bulldog-like determination that is necessary to develop a technology that has so many problems to overcome while having a limited set of applications.

But very, very cool. Who is the science fiction writer who said:

"Any sufficiently-advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"?

This is one of those technologies.
