This is just another version of "don't fight back, or you'll make them really mad and then, what will they do?"

Wait, isn't it you who suggesting that we wait for some kind of Palestinian civil war?

Just what do you think will be the result of such a civil war Nadine? Do you really think money grubbing corrupt Palestinian leaders will really risk their lives opposing Islamic militants who have few qualms about killing all of those who actively oppose them?

Hardly.. they'll flee to their European vacation homes and leave the Palestinian people to be dominated by the militants.

And their exhaustion will be overcome by the support they'll receive from other Arab militant factions throughout the region as the entire region erupts in outrage at the predicament the Paletinians find themselves in.

As for Yassin, that was a calculated risk which, thus far, has not yielded a major counter-strike. It weakened and divided Hamas temporarily as lieutenants scramble to build sufficient support to unite the various factions within the group. But do you really think they will permit his death to go unanswered for long? They have to retaliate, if only for any new leadership to consolidate their control and power over their followers.

But Israel taking on Hamas only creates more hatred throughout the region for Israel and heightens the vows to destroy the Jewish state. But having international forces dismantle and arrest Palestinians militants would be much more difficult to justify, given such a mission of creating a viable Palestinians state. Such a strategy would be far more palatable to the "arab street", IMO.

I'm all for dismantling Hamas and all militant factions in Palestine. But I don't believe Israel can viably do so themselves without just creating further hatred and retaliation on the part of the militants.

You ask what they can do to escalate.. Do you really want to find out?
