"DAK is right. The most important reasons for a lot of immigrants joining the US citizenship is due to one of the 2 following reasons:
1) to get PR for their parents/spouses/children/brothers/sisters (citizens have much higher priorities to sponsor their relatives);

2) to get the welfare/social benefits they have paid for years in their tax as legal immigrants but have been denied since 1996."

Yiwu,
Are you saying that since 1996 PR can not qualify for welfare/social benefits? This surely does not apply to social security if the PR has paid into it.
If this ius what you meant I'd appreciate any reference you can give.

TIA
