and just what would you have the government do?

pick-up the tab for the short fall, which mean taxpayers end up paying for it? [many taxpayers I might who don't have the luxury of a pension for themselves]

or have the corporations go under by struggling to keep up the payments that they don't have the full funding for and then no one can get even a partial pension? or a job

it's easy to point the finger, it's harder to actually solve the problem
