I wouldn't say unreasonable. Inconsistent would be the term I use. I'd also add that its easy to Quarterback from the bench after the fact. I'd have done this or I'd have done that doesn't really matter. Kerry voted for action and then voted against funding the action after our troops were in harms way. IMO it would have been better just to vote against the action in the first place.

I can't conclude that either way. It's too early to tell. Since we started the action in Afghanistan and moved on to Iraq there have been no events in the US. That may or may not last but its way too early to say we're less safe now. Soon we'll have OBL hanging from the end of a rope and that will help matters a lot.
