Wonder if Kerry supporters will notice that? Or if they do will understand what it means? I guarantee you that 98% of Kerry supporters don't. Most of them think Kerry would bring American troops home and some mythical UN army would go in and al Sadr's people and the Al Qaida people and Baathists would all lay down their arms and thank the UN from saving them from Bush.

In some of his most detailed remarks on Iraq, Kerry told students at the University of New Hampshire he would be prepared to turn over authority for the political transformation of Iraq, and its reconstruction, to the United Nations.
But he said he would "hold on to the military security component under our command."


Surprise. I don't have a problem with his remarks above. But I would like to hear how he'll get the UN to actually come back to Iraq. As you recall, they established a mission and were determined to get involved. Then they were bombed and they pulled out. Now the UN mission to Iraq has its offices on Cyprus. I don't think the UN will be able to help out much operating from Cyprus.
