An objective piece does not start off with such a statement.

It is reasonable to assume that the maker of that statement would observe the work of the journalists that were already in the city for which a visit was planned. If watching the pictures coming out, and seeing atrocity after atrocity after atrocity, then the statement is based on evidence, not own something nebulous like your fantasies.

based upon my own experience and personal knowledge, it is your thesis which lacks credulity.

The bullet holes are there, and you have no explanation for their source.

one of the blame America first, last and always crowd. Pathetic indeed

Quite the contrary. It's because I want to be proud of my country that I'm so upset. If your child does something wrong, do you say, "Way to go, Tiger!", and ignore it? That's not being a good parent. Far better to face the unpleasant fact that your child (or your country or your military) has done something wrong, and address the problem. What's pathetic is to not have the courage to face reality, and deal with it. Instead, construct a fantasy, and deny reality. The problem only festers, and grows worse.
