In a modern democracy, there is no excuse for a subversion of "one man one vote" not even on a geographical basis. Nor is fraud in Florida an acceptable explanation.

The electoral college has its roots in the compromises that were intended to seduce slave states into the union. Just as each of blacks and women were allowed in the mix, the electoral college should have been thrown of the constitution years ago in the name of progress. The only reason it is still around is because it is an fluke and an anachronism which rears it statistical head only about once per century. Of course, those who are empowered by it have no incentive..oh never mind...why don't we all just link to the GWB thread around December 2000 and read from that point on for a few hours for all the good it will do any of us.

The tragedy of Bush is that he has never even attempted to "deal" with those of us in the plurality that month. Do you know how many IQ credits he would have gotten for involving Gore in a couple of cabinet decisions?
