Very good question, although I am paying very little attention to these reports for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the foremost reason is that, even if they seem accurate, what has happened in the past is not nearly as important as what is going to happen in the future (i.e. impending train wreck). A real witches brew is about to be unleashed IMHO.

I was just reading some of John Murphy's commentary and he was mentioning that the 10-year Treasury yield has now broken through (upward) the 4+ year downtrend line. Should be very interesting to watch this. Also, should be very interesting to see how refis are affected, as well as real estate.
