Oh, he and LBJ, in my estimation, are/were not playing in the same league. I've been searching my memory, such as the aging thing it is, for a worse president. I, of course, get to Herbert Hoover in a big hurry. Job loss, depression, and all that. But Hoover was smart, saw himself as a problem solver, and was compassionate if too much wedded to a free market ideology for social issues, not just the market. So I'm reaching further back.

Bush can give a good speech, however much I disagree with the content. His speech at the Washington cathedral after 9-11 was both well written and well delivered. Tonight showed how essential for him to be well prepared. He doesn't think well on his feet. Well, that's a hyper understatement.
