5:40PM Nortel Networks cooperating with Canadian investigation (NT) by Rex Crum
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Nortel Networks (NT) said Tuesday that the Ontario Securities Commission enforcement staff is investigating the company's previous restatement of its financial results in March. The company said in a statement that it "has been fully cooperating with the OSC and will continue to do so in order to bring the investigation to a conclusion as promptly as possible." Nortel shares fell 6 cents to close at $5.87.


5:23PM Maxim Integrated files suit against Qualcomm (MXIM, QCOM) by Carolyn Pritchard
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Maxim Integrated Products (MXIM) said late Tuesday that it has filed suit against Qualcomm (QCOM). The supplier of analog microchips said its suit, filed in federal district court in San Diego, alleges that Qualcomm has violated United States antitrust laws and has misused its patents to illegally exclude competitors from the market for CDMA technology, the system used by its wireless communication chips. Share of Maxim fell 1.7 percent to close at $49.10 ahead of the announcement and were trading unchanged after the bell. Qualcomm shares, which shed 1.5 percent for a 4 p.m. closing price of $67.15, slipped 3 cents to change hands for $67.12.
