Mitsubishi working on fuel-cell system via www.thecarconnection.com According to a report from the Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Mitsubishi Corp. is planning to soon unveil a proprietary hydrogen generation system for fuel-cell cars. The new electrolysis-type system, anticipated by the end of next year, would be up to 90 percent smaller than the gas-based ones that employ membranes and heavy compressors, and, according to the report, it will be more affordable. The price and bulk of hydrogen production systems remains a significant obstacle in making fuel-cell vehicles viable, so the system could be a big step forward.
