I wasn't talking about winning the "war" on terrorism, but rather the way 9/11 has resulted in many Americans having lost part of their grip on reality.

It's not a case of their willfully refusing to acknowledge reality, they are totally incapable of recognizing it. I think this reaction is probably pretty similar to post-traumatic stress syndrome, we can call it "9/11 syndrome."

In retrospect it would have been a good idea to work on a nationwide system of counciling after 9/11, millions of people would have benefitted from some pychiatric help.

There was mental health services available to the people immediately impacted by 9/11, but not for the millions who were emotionally traumatized by watching it over and over again on teevee.
