There are many caves around here.
I used to own one, but I never explored it. The opening was about 2 feet across and filled with rattlesnakes, but who knows what it might have been like further back. (I know who has the land now and it still hasn't been explored)

That is interesting about the microbes. The usual story we get from the guides is that the acid that forms the caves must be carbolic acid formed from disolved carbon-dioxide. Sulferic acid would be much stronger and explain the process better.
