Vicious hostility on SI!!!

I've looked around the net for other discussion servers [English speaking] that might be better and they're pretty much the same.

Ignoring those that are dedicated to hostility, one of the challenges of text discussions is that we write as we speak [if you're lucky] but that elimates all the tone and body language that we don't realize is important to communicating.

For example, it's very difficult to use sarcasm on a message board. You can use it, but 9 times out of ten you'll be misinterpreted.
